Here’s a little information about the artist, Shane. He currently resides in North Augusta, South Carolina. He’s worked as a private contractor for photoshop instruction and taught several small classes on Photoshop for Gertrude and Herbert art Institute in Augusta, Ga.
Shane worked for Windsor Jewelers for 3 years creating advertising materials and doing photography which was developed into Crown Point Communications as an advertising firm. At Crown Point he did print and web work for clients that expanded further than the doors of Windsor. He then accepted an offer to work at Ocozzio in Augusta, Georgia. Here he worked as a designer doing print, web, and some photo work. Six months later, Shane Thompson decided to start his own ventures. These ventures would establish himself locally and give him the freedom to pursue a variety of mediums and services.
The first venture was Brides of Augusta Videography. This company was under a LLC of Westobou Inc. and we (Sarah Thompson, Matt Simmons, Glenn Towery) we did premium wedding videography. We’ve done this for 3 years and we’ve done about 40 weddings and we’ve been kinda moving out of because the competition has increased dramatically with the availability of pro-sumer gear. This means that more competitors doing lesser quality work for a much lower price. After spending 30 hours on a film with changes and all, we realized that there are other ventures that may be more profitable and take up fewer weekends.
The next venture Westobou or Westobou Studio. This is the currently company that Shane Thompson does most of his work through. Here we do large format printing, create custom artwork, build extensive websites, print design, custom and stock photography, virtual tours and entry-level seo work. We advertise through word of mouth and we’ve never not had work. At Westobou we have patience with the client, and we try to deliver the absolute best quality work that they could receive locally and at price that multiplies our business. From our start, we’ve had over 100 clients. In the fall of 2007 our office is being relocated to downtown augusta. Westobou is still pushing hard.
The third venture is Augusta Virtual Tours. We do local java-based virtual tours where we post still images, information, and virtual panoramas of any property that commissions us. We were listed as augusta360.com but switched to Augustavirtualtours.com for search engine purposes. We currently shoot for home and real estate agents.
The fourth venture is Jewelrysnap. Jewelrysnap is a rare stock photography website that sells only jewelry pictures. We feature pictures of rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, loose stones and they are already on white backgrounds. It is very hard to find quality images for advertising when it comes to jewelry and we’ve made it to where they can be downloaded immediately. We’d have a few sales but we are highly dependent upon search-ability and google takes time. (We are learning seo)
The fifth venture is KnowtheBrand which is a site dedicated to the education of jewelry brands. It has been revamped and added to now featuring over 200 fine jewelry brands. We also changed the name to from knowthebrand to DesignerJewelryBrands.com.
In 2008, Shane maintained Westobou clientele and shifted over to manage a fulltime 8 month project for Windsor Jewelers. We developed a massive ecommerce website that successfully sells product daily and features about 200 pieces of fine designer jewelry. At one point we had about 7 people working fulltime on the site. Windsor has made many breakthroughs in the world of designer jewelry, and I’ve personally never seen a project do as much business and that little about of time in such an economic situation. We’ve worked quite hard on that project - props to the crew.
With Windsor now in maintenance/stability growth mode I’ve joined up with Matt McMeans, in order to grow.
